Esquimalito Silk Tesselated Kimono

The Esquimalito Silk Tesselated Kimono in Silk Cotton is a fun play on diagonal colors. Easy to wear and great for all body shapes.

The Esquimalito is the Latino equivalent of a popsicle, we had popsicles as well, but Esquimalitos or little Eskimos, as it would be translated into English, came in liquid form in long plastic tubes (this is a no no now but back then we were blissfuly unconscious about issues like sustainability and packaging). We would buy these Esquimalitos from the supermarket, they came in these netted packs. We had to put them into the freezer and have them for snacks to beat the heat after playing outside.

I created this artwork from my old neighborhood bodega in Chelsea, New York, back in 2018, where I took pictures of them since they had reminded me of my childhood---a blast from the past per se and the colors captivated me.
