Frio Frio Azul

In the Caribbean, snow cones are known as frio frio, piragua, or yun yun. For many of us, these icy treats hold a special place in our childhood memories. The sight of the viejito (old man) pedaling his frio frio tricycle through the streets was a moment of excitement. We would eagerly rush to our guardians, asking for one of these refreshing treats, especially after school or during family outings. A favorite flavor was always frambuesa (raspberry), with its vibrant red syrup adding a burst of sweetness to those hot, sunny days.

This original artwork is inspired by those cherished childhood moments. The joy of catching the frio frio man just in time, the excitement of choosing a flavor, and the simple pleasure of enjoying a snow cone with family and friends. It’s a tribute to the nostalgia of growing up in the Caribbean, where the smallest things, like a cold, refreshing snow cone, could bring the biggest smiles.
